Competitor pricing
Know when a competitor’s public price changes.
Paste the pricing URL you already check by hand. SignalWatch fetches it on a schedule, compares the visible text, and sends the diff when a price, plan name, or footnote moves.
No card required. 3 monitors on the free plan. Checks every 15 minutes until you upgrade.
What to point at
Use the public pricing page, not the homepage and not a logged-in billing screen. If the price sits in one region, set a CSS selector such as #pricing or .plan-price so the nav, cookie banner, and rotating hero are ignored.
The preview on this form shows the text SignalWatch would hash. If that preview is almost empty, the price is probably painted by JavaScript after load. SignalWatch reads the HTML response and will not see that price.
What the alert contains
A real change sends content.changed with a unified diff. Email, Slack, and Discord show the removed and added lines. A JSON webhook includes url, status_code, change_ratio, and diff. The first successful fetch is the baseline, so creating the monitor does not email you the current price.
- Pro $12/month + Pro $15/month
That block is a presentation example, not a customer’s data.
Keep the alert to the price
- Selector first. It removes everything outside the plan table.
- Ignore regex for leftover noise, such as a “updated 3 minutes ago” stamp inside the table.
- A small minimum-change percentage if a footnote character flips every day and you only care about larger edits. Start at 0.5% and lower it if real price edits are short.
Free checks every 15 minutes. Pro checks every 5 minutes. That is the gap between a change and the alert. It is not an instant notification.
What this does not do
- It does not crawl the competitor’s site or discover new URLs. Add each page you care about as its own monitor. Three fit on the free plan.
- It does not log in, pass a paywall, or solve a CAPTCHA.
- It does not screenshot the layout. If you need a pixel diff, this is the wrong tool. The alternatives page says where visual monitoring fits.
The same monitor also sends check.down if the pricing URL stops loading, and cert.expiring if the certificate is inside 14 days. Those are included. They are not a separate product.
Where to send it
Email is enough to start. Add a Slack or Discord incoming webhook, or your own HTTPS endpoint, when you want the diff in a channel. Webhooks are signed. The webhook guide and examples show the payload. OpenAPI is at /docs.
FAQ
Can SignalWatch watch a competitor’s whole site?
No. Each monitor is one public URL. Add the pricing page, and add other pages only if you want those watched too. SignalWatch does not discover links or crawl the rest of the site.
How do I ignore a cookie banner on a pricing page?
Set a CSS selector that contains only the plan table, such as #pricing or .plan-price. Text outside that element is not compared. An ignore regex can also strip a repeated phrase before the comparison.
How fast will I hear about a price change?
On the schedule you pick. Free checks every 15 minutes, Pro every 5 minutes, and Business every 2 minutes. The alert is not instant. The first check is a baseline and does not send a change alert.
